Wes Robinson and Tom Cooper completed half-centuries as Cricket Australia Chairman’s XI reached 186 for two at tea on the first day of the warm-up match against India at Manuka Oval in Canberra.

 

Resuming their innings at 53 for two after lunch, Robinson and Cooper didn’t give any chance to Indian bowlers and added 141 runs in 34 overs in the second session, at a brisk run rate of 4.08.

 

Robinson hit one six and 10 boundaries for his knock of 80 not out, which came from 170 balls.

 

Cooper’s 71 came from 101 balls, with the help of 11 boundaries.

 

Earlier, Cricket Australia Chairman’s XI made a cautious start against India in their two-day warm-up game as they reached 53 for two at lunch.

 

Openers Robinson and Ryan Broad didn’t give Indian bowlers any chance to capitalise after the tourists decided to bowl first, as they added just 14 runs in first nine overs.

 

Right-arm pacer Umesh Yadav provided India the first breakthrough when he had Broad caught by wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha for eight.

 

Pragyan Ojha bagged the second wicket of the session dismissing Joe Burns for 21, after he added a further 31 runs with Robinson.
