Rocky Flintoff, the renowned England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff’s son, made news on Thursday when he became the youngest Lancashire County Championship debutant ever.
At The Oval, the 16-year-old displayed his potential in his first-class debut match against Surrey.
In the eleventh over, with Lancashire struggling at 33/2, Rocky came to bat at No. 4. He had a difficult opening match up against seasoned bowler Sam Curran.
Rocky played seven straight dot balls, demonstrating patience, before he eventually hit the mark. His perseverance paid off when he eventually established a rhythm and struck three boundaries, demonstrating his skill and promise.

But Rocky’s bright start was short-lived as in the 30th over, Jordan Clark removed him for 32. Rocky’s knock was stopped by a spectacular catch made by Sai Sudharsan at point. Lancashire was in a difficult situation after his departure, since they were now 98/4. After continuing to dominate the game, Surrey’s bowlers eventually bowled Lancashire out for a total of 204 runs.
