Team India captain Rohit Sharma shared an Instagram story dedicated to Abhishek Nayar who was recently removed as the batting coach. Rohit acknowledged Abhishek’s role in helping him regain his form.
This came after Rohit’s match-winning performance for Mumbai Indians on Sunday night. Following a poor start to the IPL season, the star opener bounced back in style against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium, scoring an impressive 76 off 45 balls, Which included 4 fours and 6 sixes.
A day after his match-winning performance, Rohit posted a photo of himself celebrating his fifty during the game on his Instagram story and expressed his thanks to Nayar in the caption.

Rohit had a strong bond with Nayar, and several reports indicated that he was a key supporter of the KKR assistant coach, urging the BCCI to bring him on board for the Indian team’s coaching staff. However, following a disappointing batting performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the BCCI decided to sack Nayar from his role.
Along with Nayar, fielding coach T. Dilip and strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai was also sacked by BCCI, following India’s poor performance in Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Nayar had the support of Rohit and other key batters like KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who frequently appreciated his efforts. However, his future became uncertain after the BCCI appointed Sitanshu Kotak as batting coach for the England white-ball series earlier this year.
