The CEAT Cricket Awards were held on Wednesday, August 21 and i saw the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami win major awards.
The star of the evening was India captain Rohit Sharma, who was crowned the Men’s International Cricketer of the Year. Rohit’s outstanding performances across all formats of the game made him a deserving recipient of this prestigious award. In 2023, Rohit amassed an impressive 1,800 international runs. His performances were also brilliant during the 2023 ODI World Cup where he amassed 597 runs to lead the Men in Blue to the final of the tournament. He was the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament.
Virat Kohli’s exceptional consistency with the bat in ODIs was recognized with the Best ODI Batter of the Year award. Kohli’s remarkable form in 2023 saw him accumulate 1,377 runs during the year, including 6 centuries and 8 fifties. Kohli was also the leading run-scorer of the 2023 ODI World Cup 2023 scoring 765 runs in 11 matches. He also equaled Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries in ODI cricket.
India’s ace pacer Mohammed Shami was honored with the Best ODI Bowler of the Year award following his impressive performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Shami’s exceptional bowling skills were instrumental in India’s success, as he consistently delivered outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
Rahul Dravid, the former India head coach, was honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Dravid played a pivotal role in ending India’s ICC trophy drought by guiding the team to victory in the T20 World Cup. Renowned for his significant contributions to Indian cricket as both a player and coach, Dravid received a heartfelt standing ovation from the audience.
