Starting the match at 2092 runs, the stand-in skipper hit a six off Oshane Thomas in the fifth over to surpass Kohli’s tally of 2102 runs in his 86th T20I match. During the course of his innings, Rohit also overtook Brendon McCullum’s sixes tally of 91 to become the player with second most sixes in T20Is, behind MArtin Guptill and Chris Gayle’s 103.

And with his 16th T20I fifty, Rohit overtook McCullum’s run tally of 2140 to be at number three in all time leading run-scorers list.

Leading the run-scoring chart in T20Is is New Zealand’s Guptill who has 2271 runs in 75 matches at an average of 34.40 striking the ball at 132.88. He has 14 fifties and two hundreds to his name. Guptill is followed by Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik with 2190 runs.
