India opener Rohit Sharma on Thursday became the leading run-scorer in One-Day Internationals (ODI) in 2013 as he surpassed Misbah-ul-Haq’s tally of 1119 run during the second ODI against the West Indies in Kochi.

He scored 72 runs in his 81-ball innings, which included eight boundaries and a six. The year 2013 has proved to be phenomenal for Rohit, who was promoted to open the batting during the ICC Champions Trophy 2013. Apart from forming a brilliant partnership with Shikhar Dhawan at the top of the order, he also went on to become the third batsman after Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag to score a double century in the 50-over format.
