Rohit Sharma in Gaurav Kapoor’s show Breakfast with champions shared his first experience with Yuvraj Singh and mentioned it was not very pleasant. In 2007 Rohit’s first overseas tour, the side was led by Rahul Dravid. Yuvraj Singh was a very popular player.

‘I used to fear the players’

“I used to fear the players. The first time when I was to board the team bus with other players, I reached the lobby one hour earlier. I was waiting for everyone. They came slowly but Yuvraj was looking different from far sight. I was a big fan of Yuvi,” Rohit said.

“In the bus, he came close to me asked: “Did I know whose seat it was? Did I know who sits there? So it was not the first good experience for me with Yuvraj Singh. On the first international tour as well, where Yuvraj was Man of the series, we did not talk and when I congratulated him, he just said thanks. It was only when he smashed six sixes in an over when he came to ask me and we went to eat something outside,” Rohit added.

Rohit and Yuvraj have been extremely close since. Rohit’s wife Ritika considers Yuvraj as her rakhi brother. However the tables have turned now. Rohit led team India to an ODI and T20I series win in absence of Virat Kohli. He also recorded his third double hundred and highest score in T20I levelling the record for fastest century.
