Indian team is set to face New Zealand in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025 on March 9 in the Dubai International Stadium in UAE. Rohit Sharma is going to lead the Men in Blue to their second ICC trophy within a year. He will be expected to play a big knock, and at least score 50 runs.
As of now, Rohit Sharma has 421 runs at the Dubai International Stadium. Now, if the Indian skipper manages to score 71 runs in the final clash, he will become the first player in the history of the venue to score 500 runs.
Rohit Sharma has already created history as the team qualified for the Champions Trophy 2025 final, as he became the first captain in history to lead his team to the finals of four major ICC tournaments, i.e. ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, World Test Championship and the Champions Trophy.
According to some previous reports, the outcome of this final clash is going to have a direct effect on Rohit Sharma as the team’s captain, as the BCCI will either keep him as the leader or will relieve him from his duties if a negative outcome is seen.
“Rohit still believes there is some cricket left in him. He has been told to communicate his plans going forward. Retiring is his call but there will be another discussion around continuing with captaincy. Rohit himself understands the need to have a stable captain if the team wants to prepare for a World Cup. There have been talks with Kohli too but there doesn’t seem to be much anxiety around him,” a BCCI source said.

For now, India and New Zealand will face each other in the final clash. India came out as the table-toppers of their Group with no loss faced. New Zealand also won their first two clashes, then lost to India. Both the teams in final are from Group A. India won over Australia, and New Zealand won over South Africa to seal their places in the title decider.
