The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Friday inaugurated a stand at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in honour of India’s ODI captain and T20 World Cup-winning skipper Rohit Sharma.
The association also paid tribute to former BCCI President and Chairman Sharad Pawar, as well as former India captain Ajit Wadekar, by naming two stands after them.
Additionally, the MCA honoured its late President Amol Kale, who passed away in June 2024 due to cardiac arrest, by naming the MCA Office Lounge in his memory.
As a tribute to India’s ODI captain, the Divecha Pavilion Level 3 has been renamed the Rohit Sharma Stand at his home ground. Additionally, the Grand Stand Level 3 will now carry the name of former BCCI president Sharad Pawar, while Level 4 of the same stand will be named after Ajit Wadekar.

He is the only player who has scored three double centuries, which also includes a mammoth indivifdual score of 264. He has also led Mumbai Indians to win five IPL trophies.

Alongside Rohit Sharma, several other cricketing greats were also honoured. The Grand Stand Level 4 has been named after former India captain Ajit Wadekar, who led the team to its first-ever series victories in the West Indies and England in 1971. Meanwhile, the Grand Stand Level 3 has now been named as the Sharad Pawar Stand, in recognition of the long-serving MCA president under whose leadership Mumbai successfully hosted the 2011 World Cup.
