Rohit Sharma smashed 264 against Sri Lanka in the fourth One-Day International (ODI) at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. This is his second ODI double hundred and also the highest score in ODIs, breaking Virender Sehwag‘s record of 219. Here are some of the statistical highlights from Rohit’s remarkable innings of 264:
– Rohit became the first man to his two double tons in ODIs.
– Rohit is now the only batsman with two scores over 190 in ODIs.
– Sachin Tendulkar has three scores of over 175 in ODIs. Virender Sehwag, Viv Richards and Rohit have two each.
– Rohit now has the highest score in List A cricket for an Indian. In 2013, Shikhar Dhawan smashed 248 for India A against South Africa A.
– Rohit fell short of equaling the highest score in List A cricket by four runs. In 2002, Alistair Brown scored 268 for Surrey in a List A game.
– India got over 400 for the fifth time in ODIs. Tendulkar and Sehwag’s double tons had helped India cross 400. Rohit’s last double ton did not see a 400-plus score.
– Rohit hit 33 fours in his innings. This is the most by a batsman in an ODI innings. During his last double ton, he had hit 16 sixes, which was a record in ODIs.
– Rohit hit a total of 42 boundaries (33 fours and nine sixes) during his innings. It breaks Sehwag’s record of 32, which he achieved during his 219 against West Indies.
– Rohit also beat Belinda Clarke’s record. In a Women’s ODI, Clarke had scored 229 not out. So, considering men’s and women’s ODIs, this is the highest score.
