Romesh Kaluwitharana stable after suffering heart ailment

Romesh Kaluwitharana, the former Sri Lanka wicketkeeper, suffered from a heart ailment on Monday in Hambantota. As a result, he was airlifted to Colombo, where doctors attended to him. Kaluwitharana is the coach of Sri Lanka A, which was playing West Indies A in Hambantota. He had some uneasiness and the doctors in Hambantota suggested that he should be moved to Colombo.

Kaluwitharana is currently in the Nawaloka Hospital in Colombo, as reported by The Nation. After retirement, he has been a coach and is currently responsible for the Sri Lanka A team.

In his heyday, Kaluwitharana was an attacking batsman and formed a dangerous opening combination with Sanathan Jayasuriya in One-Day Internationals.
