Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) set many records as they edged past Gujarat Lions (GL) by 144-runs in Match 44 of IPL 2016 at Bengaluru. Apart from this huge margin win, RCB set highest T20 target against GL that has been recorded to be the highest in T20 cricket which is of 248 for 3. For the third time, RCB have done this IPL as their first one recorded to be the highest total is at 263 for 5 against Pune Warriors in 2013. While they also scored 235 against Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2015. RCB’s strong batting line up has helped them charge for huge total in most of the editions on IPL. Unfortunately, they have unable to make it to the playoffs. RCB need to win all the matches in IPL 9 to enter the Playoffs. If given a close look at the table of the highest T20 total secured, RCB top the chart with their total of 263 for 5 against Warriors followed by Sri Lanka who scored 260 for 6 against Kenya at Johannesburg in 2007. County Cricket have achieved these 200-plus target many a times with the third spot going to Gloucs with target of 254 for 3 against Middlesex. Australia also make it to the list with their target set against England of 248 for 6 in 2013. Then comes the current record of RCB of 248 for 3 against GL. MS Dhoni and co’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) also achieved this remarkable feat during the Championship Trophy against Dolphins in September 2014 of 242 for 6.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers were found in thick of the action, as their 244-runs stand helped RCB register the highest team total of IPL 9.
