Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the third opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. Prior to this, the opening ceremonies were held in the first game between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) atHyderabad followed by the second game between Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at Pune. So far, both the opening ceremonies have failed to pull the crowd as many empty seats were witnessed during both the functions. Both the opening ceremonies have been nothing but boring and it seems like the BCCI’s plan to attempt more crowd has failed miserably. For the third opening ceremony, Bollywood composers Sachin-Jigar will be headlining and it is also expected that actor Tiger Shroff will be performing at the venue. It remains to be seen if the Rajkot crowd will be drawn to the venue to witness the third of the eight opening ceremonies as the previous two occasions were draggy affairs.
But apart from this, the two games that have been played so far have been exciting. SRH won the opening game against RCB by 35 runs whereas RPS saw their skipper Steven Smith guiding them to a comfortable 7-wicket victory over MI.
Coming into the third game between Gujarat Lions (GL) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), this clash is definitely going to yield fireworks. Both teams are formidable and are regarded as the heavyweights of the IPL 2017. So keeping all these facts in mind, we are certainly in for yet another exciting game.
