Bangladesh cricketer Sabbir Rahman landed himself into trouble after assaulting a fan during a domestic match. Sabbir was playing on Day Two of Rajshahi Division’s National Cricket League’s First-Class match when he was subjected to a noise made by the fan. Sabbir left the ground with the permission of the on-field umpire, went behind the sight-screen and physically assaulted the fan, as per reports. Also, he is accused of improper and aggressive behaviour towards umpire Showkatur Rahman as the later intervened into the matter.
As reported by EspnCricinfo, the matter first came to the notice of the reserve umpire and was elevated to the match referee and subsequently to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The manner of the offense falls under Level 4 category and if charged with it, Sabbir might either face match bans or have to pay almost US $ 6,000.
Sabbir is currently being investigated by the disciplinary committee of BCB. Talking about it, committee’s vice chairman Sohel Sheikh told Prothom Alo, “The moment I get the report, we will call him. But after seeing the report if we feel we don’t need to talk to him, we will quickly mete out the punishment.”

This is not the first time Sabbir has been accused of something of this sort, as he had to pay a fine of US $ 14,000 during Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2016 for his indecent off-field behaviour.
