India hockey captain Sardar Singh is the latest to complete the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and nominated batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, Bollywood actor John Abraham and former Netherlands skipper Teun de Nooijer to take up the dare. Sardar took up the challenge at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here today after the Indian team’s traning session ahead of the Incheon Asian Games.
The ice bucket challenge is being done to raise awareness and funds for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease). If the three nominated by Sardar fail to complete the challenge they will have to donate to the ALS association. Sardar accepted the challenge after being nominated by Jaap Stockmann, goalkeeper of The Netherlands hockey team.
Besides, Sardar the Indian men’s hockey team also took upon the dare and completed it and further nominated the entire Indian cricket team, Indian women’s hockey team and Australian men’s hockey team for the challenge.
