Father’s Day is being celebrated worldwide on Sunday, June 19. Cricketers have poured in their messages on this special occasion. But there is one particular cricketer who has shared a very nostalgic picture from his childhood along with his father — Sachin Tendulkar. He shared the picture with a message on social media that read, “The person I always looked upto and wanted to be like. #HappyFathersDay.” Tendulkar has often credited his father for helping shape his personality. The master blaster has publicly spoken on several occasions about his father’s contribution in his cricket career. On this day, social media are also circulating a special note by late Ramesh Tendulkar to his son.

This was the note Tendulkar shared during his farewell speech. Cricket fans will also remember how Sachin dealt with his father’s demise during the 1999 World Cup. It was not just Tendulkar but also Ajinkya Rahane who sent out message to his father in trendy way with a selfie where he attributed his success in every phase of life to his father and how with his blessings Rahane has achieved accolades so far.
With the next head coach to be announced soon for India, Tendulkar will tune in from abroad by video link to help choose India’s new coach after he was handed the task alongside fellow batting greats Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman. Tendulkar, Ganguly and Laxman, dubbed the “holy trinity” by Indian media, together with senior official Sanjay Jagdale, will get to work after the flood of 57 applications was whittled down to 21, a statement said on Thursday.
