Sachin Tendulkar’s impending 200th Test is in the centre of all attention, but reports suggest that the Indian selectors have told the maestro that his fate would be in their hands after the milestone. Sandeep Patil, the chairman of selectors recently met Tendulkar and spoke to him about the same.
The Indian Express quoted a selector saying, “Patil spoke to Sachin Tendulkar and made him understand the entire scenario. He even told him about the selectors’ plan for the next one year and how they were looking to blood more youngsters.” Also, Patil seems to have told Tendulkar that his form would be considered for selection after he completes the historic match.
This is a clear indication that the Indian selectors are looking at the future and want to move on. The selector said, “We have got a bunch of youngsters and they all have been performing well. No one can question Sachin Tendulkar. What he has done is remarkable but we also have to look at the future. We have several talented players waiting to get one chance to prove themselves.”
The newspaper also suggested that Patil had met the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President N Srinivasan when the announcement was made on the West Indies series.
