Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin feels batting legend Sachin Tendulkar should not receive country’s highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna ahead of Hockey legend Dhyan Chand.
Azharuddin was quoted in thats Cricket as saying that hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand should get Bharat Ratna before Sachin Tendulkar. Azhar also added that Tendulkar can get the award later but the hockey legend should get the greatest civilian honour ahead of the cricketing legend.
Azharuddin’s controversial comments come after the Indian Government had made amendments in the eligibility criteria for Bharat Ratna which ensures both sporting legends Sachin Tendulkar and Dhyan Chand are eligible for the country’s highest civilian honour.
