The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) consisting of former Indian batsmen Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman could have a say on who the next Indian Head Coach will be The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had confirmed that as many as 57 people have applied for the Head Coach’s role. Many former cricketers like Ravi Shastri, Pravin Amre and Anil Kumble are set to have applied for the post. India have gone to Zimbabwe with Sanjay Bangar, who is their interim Heqad Coach. The new Coach could well be announced on June 25, after which India will go to the Caribbean to play a Test series against the West Indies. New BCCI President Anurag Thakur has often indicated the panel’s involvement of the panel. For the time being, Laxman and Tendulkar are out of the country and whether their consent will be taken is to be seen, according to mumbaimirror.com.
According to a Press Release from the BCCI, “At the close of the June 10, 2016, the timeline set for receiving applications for the position of the Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team, BCCI has received a total of 57 applications from coaches within India and overseas,” the release stated. “The primary scrutiny of the applications received is now being carried out by the Office of the Honorary Secretary of the BCCI, with regards to the applicants, meeting the set eligibility criteria. After this initial scrutiny, the list of candidates who meet the criteria will be processed for further consideration,” it further stated.
