Sachin Tendulkar warmly welcomed Virender Sehwag to the battalion of former international cricket stars to participate in the Cricket All Stars League. The league, which will be played in the USA, features Indian names such as VVS Laxman, Ajit Agarkar, Sourav Ganguly and now Sehwag is set to join them. The idea for the league was conceptualised by Australian Shane Warne alongside India’s Tendulkar. The two co-creators are two of the greatest and most prolific Test cricketers and enjoy wide respect in the global cricketing community.
Other stars in the league include names such as Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting, Glenn McGrath, Mathew Hayden and Andrew Symonds from Australia. Wasim Akram, Moin Khan, Shoaib Akhtar and Saqlain Mushtaq will be the Pakistan cricketers to adorn the league. Daniel Vettori is the solitary Kiwi player in the draft. From West Indies there will be Curtly Ambrose, Courtney Walsh, Brian Lara and Carl Hooper.
From England, only former England captain Michael Vaughan will play. There will be five South Africans including Shaun Pollock, Jacques Kallis, Lance Klusener, Jonty Rhodes and Allan Donald. From Sri Lanka Kumar Sangakkara, Muttiah Muralitharan and Mahela Jayawardene make the cut.
Sachin in his tweet posted a picture with Sehwag and wrote, “Warm welcome to my friend & a batsman with his distinct style! @virendersehwag joins us at @T20AllStars #10DaystoGo.
