Sam Billings wins Walter Lawrence Trophy for fastest ton of season

Billings made 135 off 58 balls against Somerset.

Sam Billings of English county side Kent has won this year’s Walter Lawrence trophy for scoring the fastest century of the season. Billings, a wicketkeeper has jointly won the prestigious award with Dan Christian of Middlesex. Both batsmen had hammered 46-ball centuries in the year 2014.

The wicket-keeper batsman, from the Kent Academy, scoring his hundred during the Royal London One-Day Cup match against Somerset at Taunton on July 31, reported the Offcial Kent County Club website.

He came in at number seven and proceeded to hammer 12 fours and four sixes , in total he made 135 off 58 balls. Billings was voted 2014 Spitfire Player of the Year.
