Sarfaraz Khan’s father Naushad Khan says that he never expected his son would be bought for Rs 50 lakhs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 Player Auction by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), held in Bangalore a couple of days ago.

“Last year eight players from U-19 squad got selected for IPL. So, this year I expected Sarfaraz to get selected but I never thought he will get more than his base price,” Naushad told CricketCountry.

“I feel really blessed at this moment. It is really big opportunity which has come Sarfaraz’s way at an age of just 17. I believe he will make full use of this opportunity and will prove himself at the big stage. He will have mentors like AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli who will help him to thrive, added Naushad.

Naushad says he has already looking for a car after Sarfaraz expressed his desire to buy one for him soon after getting selected by RCB.  “I have already started looking for a car. It will take some time for the money to come but now I will need car and I will buy a car after consulting Sarfaraz,” quipped Naushad.

Naushad feels that his son will do best for RCB as he has done well in pressure situations in the past too. “He has a capability to perform well under pressure. He performed exceptionally well in the U-19 World Cup and also performed well for Mumbai in Cooch Behar Trophy in tense situations. I hope he will help his team in tough situations and will make everyone proud,” concluded Naushad.
