Services were dismissed for a score of 226 during their opening Ranji Trophy encounter against Himachal Pradesh (HP) at Model Sports Complex in Delhi on Sunday. HP in reply were batting at a score of 19 for no loss at stumps on the opening day.
While Services were off to a decent start, reaching a score of 75 for two with Soumik Chatterjee guiding the top-order with a knock of 42 from 126 balls. Services began to lose wickets at regular intervals from that point however, falling to a score of 147 for eight. No. 8 batsman Deepak Punia rallied with the rest of the lower-order, top-scoring for his side with a knock of 64 from 67 balls, to drag Services past the 200-run mark.
Vikramjeet Malik and Rishi Dhawan were the pick among the Himachal bowlers, taking three wickets each while conceding 33 and 57 runs respectively. The duo led much of the destruction of the Services batting order. Karanveer Singh was the other notable mention among the HP bowlers with figures of two for 49.
Ankush Bains and Raghav Dhawan were batting on scores of 12 and seven respectively at the end of the day, with Himachal reaching a score of 19 for no loss.
