Karachi: Legendary cricketer and former cricket coach Javed Miandad issued a verbal volley against Shaharyar Khan after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman declared the former skipper a `flop` coach. Shaharyar, who was attending a meeting of National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Inter Provincial Coordination in Islamabad on Thursday, said that although Miandad was a great batsman, he had failed as Pakistan’s head coach.
Hitting back over his claims, Miandad said that the PCB chief knew nothing about the game and that he is a ‘liar’. “If you want to inquire about my performance, ask Mushtaq Ahmed, Moin Khan, Inzamam and Wasim Akram. I told Shaharyar that your players are involved in match-fixing and he rubbished me,” the Dawn quoted Shaharyar as saying.
Echoing similar views, former Pakistan opener Aamir Sohail said that the PCB chief’s own performance was not up to the mark and, therefore, he had no right pointing fingers at Miandad. Sohail said that Shaharyar and his management staff are leading Pakistan cricket towards destruction. “Shaharyar and company are leading Pakistan cricket towards destruction. If all former cricketers unite and form a body, the PCB will not be able to do any injustice to any retired cricketer,” he said.

The 83-year-old also stirred another debate during the committee when he dubbed outgoing Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq as a better captain than World Cup winning leader Imran Khan.
