Shahid Afridi still has the steam. Multan Sultans, who were the PSL 2018 table-toppers till a few games back, succumbed to their third consecutive defeat after Afridi brought the Kings back in the game with his brilliant spell. Afridi’s 4-1-18-3 included the key wickets of Sultans’ skipper Shoaib Malik and also Kieron Pollard. Afridi cleaned up all three batsmen and followed it with his stretched arms celebration.

Chasing 189, Sultans had reached the fifty-mark inside the Powerplay. Kings’ Mohammad Aamer and Sultan’s Shehzad were involved in a heated exchange early on. Shehzad scored a breezy 17-ball 24 and fellow opener Kumar Sangakkara got a 13-ball 18.

The Afridi strikes derailed the momentum as Sultans folded for 125.

Kings were sent into bat and they lost Lendl Simmons in the fourth over. England’s Joe Denly added 118 for the second wicket with Babar Azam. The innings received the apt flourish at the end from Colin Ingram, who belted four sixes to strike an 8-ball 29. Kings scored 60 runs off their last four overs.

With this win, Karachi Kings have climbed to the No.2 spot in the points table while Multan Sultans dipped to the third spot.
