Former Pakistan  captain Shahid Afridi was to be seen in action for the much-anticipated World XI versus West Indies one-off T20I at Lord’s (May 31). The yesteryear superstar was making his international comeback of sorts, but has ruled himself out due to knee injury. He mentioned on his official Twitter handle that the injury will take more time (3-4 weeks) for recovery.

Barring Afridi, Bangladesh all-rounder and T20I skipper Shakib Al Hasan has already deemed himself unavailable for the one-off encounter citing personal reasons. His absence led to Nepal sensation Sandeep Lamichhane’s presence and he will be looking forward to make a mark in Eoin Morgan-led World XI lineup. They play West Indies in order to raise funds for the reconstruction of the venues in the Caribbean island that were affected due to Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017.
