Indian Premier League (IPL) champions of 2012 Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) stakes are up for grabs. It is being said that the owners including Shahrukh Khan are willing to release 20% of the stake provided they get a good price for it.

The franchise was bought by Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta for $75.99 million in 2008. After performing poorly in the first four seasons, its valuation dropped to an estimated $57.5 million in 2011.

A Times of India report stated that, following the team’s triumph in the 2012 season, the management is planning to sell its 20 percent stake for atleast $40 million.

However, no official announcement has been made regarding the same. According to IPL rules, teams can sell stakes but only after Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) accepts the deal.
