As Bangladesh prepare to pay Afghanistan at home, left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak says all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has the potential to break a lot of records by the time he retires. Shakib Al Hasan has 206 ODI wickets till date and is on the verge of becoming Bangladesh’s highest wicket-taker in ODIs going past Razzak, who has 207 wickets. This is the first time Afghanistan will play Bangladesh at the latter’s home for a series. The series that includes three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and will start with the first ODI on September 25. Bangladesh will next play England at home for three ODIs and two tests. Bangladesh are playing international cricket for the first time since the ICC World T20 2016.

Talking to The Independent, Razzak said, “I won’t say or I can’t say how many wickets he would take before retiring from the cricket but he stands on a good chance to break several records. His dedication and hunger makes him absolute favourite to make so many records for Bangladesh. I believe he is going to set such a benchmark which would be tough to emulate. The rate at which he is progressing is unbelievable. He is quite a genius and Bangladesh is lucky to have a player like him.”
