Despite a career ridden with chronic back injury troubles, New Zealander Shane Bond was always a force to reckon with. He made his international debut in 2001 and in no time made his mark on world cricket. Entering World Cup 2003, all expected Bond to put on an amazing display, but few would’ve expected that his best figures in the tournament would’ve come against the mighty Australians.

Bond’s express pace fused with accuracy and movement proved to hot for the Aussies to handle and the young speedster finished with figures 6/23. His efforts went in vain as Australia who were skittled out for 208 in turn bowled New Zealand out for 112 on back of Brett Lee’s fifer. However, the performance earned Bond the respect from all quarters of World cricket.
