Vice-captain Shane Watson has urged Australia cricketers to put behind the failure in England in ODI series and start preparing for the Ashes.

Watson conceded that the 0-4 loss to England in One-Day International series is still raw, as Australia camp began at Darwin to prepare for limited-overs clashes with Afghanistan and Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.

“Obviously we’re very disappointed about the result in England in the one-day series,” Watson told reporters.

“Now’s the time to really regroup and spend the time working on the deficiencies we’ve got as individuals and within the team. It’s a great time to get that coming together,” Watson was quoted as saying by the Sydney Morning Herald.

Watson admitted that the upcoming tour of the UAE is very critical for the Australian side, as they will next take a part in the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka, will face South Africa at home and also tour India towards the end of the year.

“It’s massive. We’ve got so much cricket, big series coming up,” he said.

“It’s a perfect lead-in really to be able to get ourselves in a great position as a team. Hopefully everything can come together in the summer really as a great launching pad into the Ashes next year.”
