Mumbai: The Shiv Sena workers on Monday stormed into the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) office to protest against the meeting with the Pakistan Cricket board to discuss the India-Pakistan bilateral series slated for December. This incident undoubtedly has triggered anger among the Indian cricket fans as they have taken on the social media to express their disgrace regarding this move by the political party. The Shiv Sainiks charged into the office chanting ‘vande matram’ and slogans against PCB chief Shahryar Khan. They cornered BCCI president Shashank Manohar and protested saying they will not allow any cricket ties with Pakistan. In 1991 Shiv Sena dug up d pitch of Wankhede Stadium. Today they stormed BCCI office at Wankhede. Nothing had changed for them in 25 yrs!

The Shiv Sena is trying to stay relevant by finding room to the further right of the BJP. Who woulda thunk?

I refuse to believe that the Govt knew nothing about the plans of #ShivSena to storm #BCCI office. They are & will be hand in glove #Saffron

First Sudheendra Kulkarni, then Ghulam Ali and now BCCI. These #ShivSena thugs are a stigma for this country.

I Would be happy if Shiv Sena would have their own PM in India.

The next time someone in Bombay tweets to someone in Pakistan, Shiv Sena is going to e-protest.

So if the Shiv Sena is an army, shouldn’t they be sent to the borders to defend our country? I mean, its just a thought…

This episode has brought back memories of 1991 when then Hindu leader Bal Thackeray’s Shiv Sena party vandalised the pitch at Bombay’s Wankhede stadium two days before Pakistan were to play a one-day series in India. Again, in 1999 the Shiv Sena party stormed New Delhi’s Ferozeshah Kotla stadium and had dug up the pitch prior to the first Test against Pakistan. The series was the very against Pakistan on the Indian soil in 12 years. READ: Shiv Sena storm BCCI office in Mumbai over cricket relations with Pakistan
