Following his third marriage to Sana Javed, Shoaib Malik has been the target of anger on social media. On Friday, January 26, the former captain of Pakistan saw his contract with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) revoked, making matters worse for the former captain.
Malik was charged with underperforming for Fortune Barishal in a BPL 2024 encounter earlier this week. In the one over he bowled against the Khulna Tigers, he gave up eighteen runs by bowling three no-balls. In the last overs, the 41-year-old scored five runs off of the six balls he faced at bat.
Fans began to wonder about Malik’s motivations after this performance. Many believed that the no-balls were intentionally bowled, subtly hinting to a fix.
According to a journalist working in Bangladesh, Fortune Barishal cancelled Shoaib Malik’s contract on suspicion of “fixing” a few days after the event.
“Mizanur Rahman, the team owner of Fortune Barishal, has confirmed the news,” the tweet further read.
