Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer has proved everyone that last season’s IPL title win with Kolkata Knight Riders was not a coincidence. Though most of the credit then went to KKR’s support staff, Iyer’s leadership played a crucial role in their championship campaign. Now, by leading PBKS to the playoffs, he has again proved himself by demonstrating exceptional captaincy prowess and silencing his critics who questioned his capabilities.

With Punjab’s victory against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, Shreyas Iyer created history by achieving something never done before in the IPL. He became the first captain in IPL history to lead three different franchises Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and now Punjab Kings to the playoffs.

Shreyas Iyer lauded his team following PBKS’s victory over Rajasthan Royals, praising the explosive performance of their top order, particularly Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi. PBKS posted a total of 219 in their 20 overs, but defending the target seemed challenging at first, as RR raced to 76 runs in just 4.5 overs.

Harpreet Brar provided the crucial wicket of RR explosive batter which helped PBKS return to the match.

“The guys were in high spirits. We showed the mindset that we wanted to win irrespective of the situation. The body language tends to drop when opposition plays well. Brar is consistent in the nets. Today he stepped in and delivered. His mindset has been tremendous throughout. Absolutely brilliant approach and attitude,” said Shreyas Iyer after the match
