Shreyas Iyer’s heroic knock makes way for Punjab Kings to secure 11-run victory over Gujarat Titans

With the help of the heroic knock of 97* by Shreyas Iyer Punjab Kings (PBKS) to a victory over Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans (GT) by11 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Shubman gill had won the toss, and had decided for his team to bowl first.

Punjab Kings got an early shock as they lost Prabhsimran Singh by the 4th over, but the team did not let that bring them down and were at 73/1 by the end of powerplay. Priyansh Arya was on his way towards a half-century, but got dismissed on 47 runs. The team them played carefully, and crossed 100-run mark by the time half innings were complete.

Right after half-inning mark, Azmatullah Omarzai and Glenn Maxwell got dismissed on two consecutive balls, which was a massive shock to the Punjab team. Shreyas Iyer then played aggressively, scoring a half-century by the 14th over. Soon after that, PBKS were half doen as Marcus Stoinis got dismissed. Shreyas was then with Shashank Singh, and played aggressively. The pair then built up a strong partnership of 80 runs, pushing the team to 243/5 by the end of their 20 overs.

Gujarat Titans began their innings on a slow note, along with losing the important wicket of Shubman Gill within the powerplay. Then Jos Buttler came in and played with Sai Sudarshan to pile up runs. By the time half innings was complete, Sudarshan completed his fifty and GT had reached scorred 100 runs104 runs.

GT was given a great shock during the 13th over, as settled batter Sai Sudarshan got dismissed. Sherfane Rutherford was the player to come in as the impact snub, who played with open hands from the very beginning. Gujarat needed 70 runs by the time final 5 overs were remaining.

By the end of 18 overs, Jos Buttler got bowled out and GT was looking in a tough spot. by the time last 6 balls were remaining, Gujarat were needing 27 runs in 6 balls. In the final over, both the settled batters Rahul Tewatia and Sherfane Rutherford got dismissed, and Gujarat Titans eventually lost the match by 11 runs
