Sikandar Raza, the 39-year-old T20I captain of Zimbabwe, is now the top-ranked all-rounder in the ICC’s latest rankings.
Raza overtook Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Nabi after scoring two half-centuries in the recently concluded ODI series at home against Sri Lanka, which the visitors won 2-0.
In the first ODI, Raza scored 92 runs off of 87 balls, but his effort went in vain as Zimbabwe lost to Sri Lanka by seven runs while chasing a target of 299. He also dismissed Sadeera Samarawickrama in that match.
In the second ODI, he remained unbeaten on 59 off 55 balls, helping Zimbabwe post 277/7. However, Pathum Nissanka’s 122 and captain Charith Asalanka’s half-century guided Sri Lanka to a successful chase of 278 with three balls to spare. Raza bowled nine overs in the match but went wicketless.
