The ex-Australia skipper in question here is Michael Clarke, who was quite surprised to see ICC not fining Siraj for disrespecting umpires during the match at Adelaide Oval

Former Australia skipper Michael Clarke slammed India pacer Mohammed Siraj and urged the ICC to fine him for his actions in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar series. Following a heated exchange with Australia batter Travis Head during the second day of the Adelaide Test, Siraj now finds himself in the middle of a massive controversy.

Clarke pointed out how Siraj also disrespects umpires by not bothering to turn around and appeal for LBW decisions. During the Adelaide Test, Siraj was certain that Marnus Labuschagne was out LBW and hence did not even bother to look back and appeal. However, the umpire deemed it as not out and Siraj’s celebrations were cut short. Skipper Rohit Sharma also didn’t opt for a review as the replays clearly showed a huge inside edge.

“Siraj should be fined for keeping on appealing for LBW and not asking the umpire. He hits the batter on the pads and just runs down like they’re out,” Clarke told Sky Sports radio.

Clarke also was left surprised with the ICC’s decision of not fining Siraj and stated that he is more worried about Siraj disrespecting the umpires rather than his on-field spat with Head.

“I’m surprised the ICC haven’t fined him because I remember when I was playing, you get fined every time. Brett Lee was the worst at it and they told him, ‘You don’t turn around and ask the umpire, you’re going to be fined’. I’m more worried about that from Siraj than him and Travis Head,” Clarke said.

Another reason why Siraj is facing backlash from many fans following the Adelaide Test is due to him aggressively throwing the ball at Labuschagne after the batter pulled away late in his run-up.
