TEAM India is all set to play a three-match T20I series in Ireland from August 18. The T20I series will see Jasprit Bumrah return to the Indian team. Bumrah has been named the captain of the squad.
India head coach Rahul Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour, and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey have been given a much-needed break before the Asia Cup and World Cup. The coaching staff is currently with the Indian team in the USA for the final two T20Is against the West Indies.
So far in the absence of Rahul Dravid, NCA head VVS Laxman has served as India coach on low-profile tours but Laxman too will not be available for the series.
India A and NCA batting coach Sitanshu Kotak will serve as the team’s head coach for the tour. Former Saurashtra batter Kotak has been India A head coach for a couple of years now. The series gets underway on August 18, with matches on August 20 and August 23.
Meanwhile, the series will be an opportunity for Jasprit Bumrah to get into the rhythm ahead of the Asia Cup and World Cup. Bumrah is an integral member of the Indian team but has been out of action since September last year owing to a back injury. Bumrah will have a young team to lead as most of the senior players are not part of the squad. It will be a great opportunity for the likes of Rinku Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Tilak Varma among others to cement a place in the Indian cricket team.
Jasprit Bumrah (C), Ruturaj Gaikwad (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson (wk), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ravi Bishnoi, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan
