# Matthews has recorded two innings of 90-plus in Tests – 99 against India at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium in December 2009 and 95 against Australia at Galle in August/September 2011.
# Tharanga Paranavitana has posted his fifth duck in Tests. He has registered two successive ducks for the first time.
# Kumar Sangakkara (5003 at an average of 61.76 in 57 matches) is the second Sri Lankan batsman after Mahela Jayawardene (6190 at an average of 63.16 in 69 Tests) to complete 5,000 runs in Tests in Sri Lanka.
# Sangakkara became the 13th batsman to amass 5,000 runs or more in Tests at home. Ricky Ponting, with 6903 at an average of 57.52 in 83 Tests, heads the table.
