Former India captain Sourav Ganguly would be the ‘best person’ to take over Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President following the Supreme Court’s observation on Mudgal Committee report on IPL spot-fixing scandal, West Bengal Sports Minister Madan Mitra said on Thursday.
“Let Sourav Ganguly take over the reigns at the BCCI. He is our all time best captain and has a clean image. He is the best person to take over the BCCI at this time,” Mitra told PTI reacting to SC’s observation that Sunil Gavaskar or a former cricketer should take over the reigns at the BCCI.
Hitting out at Srinivasan for not stepping down, Mitra said, “All cricket lovers in the country are ashamed just because of one person, that is N Srinivasan.”
“As a sports minister, I demand Srinivasan should immediately step down. There should be clean cricket and a young brigade,” he said.
