South Africa were bowled out for a paltry 83 after 33.1 overs on Day Three of the third Test against England at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Saturday. Stuart Broad’s dream spell, that saw him finish with figures of 6 for 17 from 12.1 overs (including 12.1 overs) was the chief reason for the hosts spectacular collapse on Day Three after conceding a 10-run first innings lead to their opponents. The score of 83 is South Africa’s second-lowest total since their readmission into the sport in 1991 (79 being the record), as well as their second-lowest score at the Wanderers Stadium (72 being the record). England need just 74 runs to clinch the Test now, with more than two days in their hands for them to achieve the task. South Africa resumed from their score of 16 for no loss at lunch, with Dean Elgar and Stiaan van Zyl getting dismissed by Broad soon after. Skipper AB de Villiers was dismissed for an eight-ball duck, and the alarm bells were ringing for South Africa when James Taylor held on to the first of his two stunning catches at short-leg to dismiss Hashim Amla for 5.  LIVE CRICKET UPDATES: South Africa vs England 2015-16, 3rd Test at Johannesburg, Day 3

The rest of the team fell like a house of cards, with Faf du Plessis somehow managing to drag the innings till the end of the second session. He was the last man dismissed, as well as Broad’s sixth victim after the playing the ball onto his foot, from where it deflected towards the bowler for him to collect the return catch.

Brief scores:

South Africa 313 (Dean Elgar 46, Hashim Amla 40, AB de Villiers 36; Ben Stokes 3 for 53, Steven Finn 2 for 50, Ben Stokes 2 for 53) and 83 (Kagiso Rabada 16; Stuart Broad 6 for 17, Ben Stokes 2 for 24) lead England 323 (Alastair Cook 18, Nick Compton 26, Joe Root 110, Ben Stokes 58, Jonny Bairstow 45; Kagiso Rabada 5 for 78, Morne Morkel 3 for 76) by 73 runs.
