Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis recused South Africa from an early setback. Both scored their half-centuries. Amla was the first of them to reach the milestone. It was his 29th One-Day International (ODI) half-century whereas for du Plessis this was his 15th half-century. In this World Cup it was du Plessis’s third fifty on a trot. South Africa made steady progress in the 24th match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Amla opened the innings with Quinton de Kock. But de Kock got out early but from the pair batted brilliantly. After 23 South Africa reached 128 for one. Live Updates: Ireland vs South Africa
Earlier, South Africa captain AB de Villiers won the toss and elected to bat against Ireland in the World Cup Pool B match at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Tuesday. Both teams have four points each, but South Africa have played three matches to Ireland’s two. The Proteas retained the same side that trounced the West Indies by 257 runs in Sydney last Friday, with fast bowler Dale Steyn set to play his 100th one-day international. Ireland have dropped Alex Cusack and included an extra slow bowler in off-spinner Andrew McBrine on a dry pitch that promises lots of runs, AFP reported. Live Scorecard: South Africa vs Ireland
