Southern Express were 81 for 5 at the end of 12 overs against Lahore Lions in the 5th qualification match in Champions League Twenty 20 (CLT20) at Raipur on Tuesday. Seekkuge Prasanna was batting on 4, and Angelo Perera was batting on 16. Jehan Mubarak and Angelo Perera had led the SE fightback after three quick wickets by Aizaz Cheema, but Adnan Rasool dismissed Mubarak and Farveez Maharoof to put Southern Express in deep trouble.
Both teams put up ordinary performances in their previous match, though in different departments. The Lions were bundled out for 98, and no batsman except for Saad Nasim (who scored 58) managed to get their score into double figures. On the other hand, Southern Express put up a decent show with the bat, but failed miserably with the ball as Lendl Simmons and Michael Hussey combined beautifully to put up a match-winning opening stand of 139.
