Lahore Lions were 114 for 3 at the end of 16 overs against Southern Express in the 5th qualification match at Raipur on Tuesday. Mohammad Hafeez was batting on 38, and Saad Nasim was batting on 25. The Lions were going slowly till the 15th over, but Hafeez hit three consecutive sixes in the 16th over, to hand the momentum back to Pakistan’s T2o champions.
Both teams put up ordinary performances in their previous match, though in different departments. The Lions were bundled out for 98, and no batsman except for Saad Nasim (who scored 58) managed to get their score into double figures. On the other hand, Southern Express put up a decent show with the bat, but failed miserably with the ball as Lendl Simmons and Michael Hussey combined beautifully to put up a match-winning opening stand of 139.
