Southern Express were 48 for 3 at the end of 8 overs against Lahore Lions in the 5th qualification match in Champions League Twenty 20 (CLT20) at Raipur on Tuesday. The Sri Lankan T20 champions need 115 more runs in the last 12 overs. Jehan Mubarak was batting on 17, and Angelo Perera was batting on 5. The SE openers had given them a good start to the chase, but Aizaz Cheema took three quick wickets to leave them reeling at 36/3.

Both teams put  up ordinary performances in their previous match, though in different departments. The Lions were bundled out for 98, and no batsman except for Saad Nasim (who scored 58) managed to get their score into double figures. On the other hand, Southern Express put up a decent show with the bat, but failed miserably with the ball as Lendl Simmons and Michael Hussey combined beautifully to put up a match-winning opening stand of 139.
