With less than two weeks to go for the annual general meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), speculations are flying thick and fast for the post of the treasurer.

According to sources, the contest for the handling the finances of the board could be among three candidates from West Zone — Niranjan Shah, Ajay Shirke and Ravi Sawant.

Shah, a former BCCI secretary and current West Zone vice-president, is said to be termed as favourite.

The Saurashtra strongman is believed to have the backing of Shashank Manohar and N Srinivasan.

Ajay Shirke is considered the next favourite in the race for the post. The industrialist is known to be a no-nonsense and non-controversial candidate.
