The arrest of Rajasthan Royals players Ankeet Chavan and S Sreesanth for spot-fixing by Delhi police on Wednesday night has cast an uncertainty over their upcoming marriages.
Two days before the controversy broke, Sreesanth had hinted about his marriage in September. With his arrest, a family member of the pacer said, “It’s true we were following-up on a proposal, I don’t want to reveal the name of the girl. But we had never fixed the marriage. Now I don’t know what will happen.”
While Chavan, a resident of Dadar, Mumbai was scheduled to get married to his long-time girlfriend on June 2. “Everyone is disturbed, we are in shock,” Ankeet’s brother Nihar was quoted as saying by Times of India.
After the controversy erupted on Thursday morning, Air India officials have suspended the services of Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila. Both were employed by Air India under sports quota. While Chandila represents Air India in various club and corporate tournaments in Delhi, Chavan represents Air India (Mumbai) in tournaments like Times Shield and Kanga League.
