Good Evening, शुभ संध्या! Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog session of the grand opening ceremony of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The 10th edition of the IPL finally kicks off with this opening ceremony, and will be followed by a blockbuster match between the finalists of IPL 2016 — defending champions and hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and runners-up Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The final had taken place at the same venue at this very venue. SRH, being the defending champions, are hosting the opening game of IPL 2017; they will also host the final on May 21. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, IPL 2017, Match 1 at Hyderabad
The IPL is undoubtedly the biggest T20 league in the world. Its immense popularity and richness attract extensive following in India as well as around the world. The participation of players from across the globe makes IPL perhaps the most competitive franchise-based T20 league in the world. Apart from the cricket, the entertainment the league provides is also spectacular, especially in the form of the opening and closing ceremonies. The opening ceremony in 2017 promises some serious fun, with performances from various artists including Bollywood celebrities like Parineeti Chopra, Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor.
However, it does not end with today’s opening ceremony. This edition will witness eight opening ceremonies, one for each franchise, before the opening games at their home ground, therefore making it one of the most hyped and colourful editions of the tournament till date. It will hardly be a thing to miss out for the fans: as they are sure to enjoy every bit of IPL 2017 — a tournament that kicks off with these opening ceremonies.
