Sri Lanka on Tuesday announced the squad for the two-match Test series against England, which begins at Lord’s on June 12. Prasanna Jayawardene, Shaminda Eranga and Rangana Herath were named in the side while Ajantha Mendis and Suranga Lakmal were excluded.
Prasanna Jayawardene was with the Sri Lankan team in Bangladesh, but in February he had to fly back home to attend to his sick father, who passed shortly after, said the official website of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
On the other hand, the inclusion of Herath and Eranga marks their comeback to cricket after they were ruled out of action during the tour of Bangladesh due to injuries. Lakmal, who suffered a grade two tear on his right hamstring during the first One-Day International (ODI) against England on May 22 has been replaced by Eranga.
Sri Lanka would be aiming for a better performance as they were trumped 1-0 in their last tour in 2011.
