In a nice gesture of support to school cricket, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board provided 24 schools in 10 Sri Lankan cities viz. Colombo, Mt. Lavina, Moratuwa, Pannipitiya, Kandana, Galle, Kurunegala, Jaffna, Katuneriya, and Kandy with turf covers. The ceremonial for distribution of turf covers was held at Sri Lanka Cricket premise. Division 1 and 2 cricket playing schools received the covers. Stakeholders of beneficiary schools were also present at the ceremony. Sidath Wettimuny (chairman of SLC), Dilshan de Silva (Secretary of Schools Cricket Association), Ashley de Silva (CEO of SLC) and Carlton Bernardus (Head of Cricket Operations of SLC) were present during the distribution of the covers. Wettimuny was quoted by news.lk saying, “Due to non availability of Turf pitch covers, most of the Under 19 cricket matches were affected during the rainy season in the past. No sooner SLSCA & SLC were informed of the need for pitch covers , SLC took immediate action to solve the problem by procuring pitch covers which we felt that was a long-felt need that will help lift the standard of school cricket in Sri Lanka”.

9. Wesley Colllage, Colombo
10. DS Senanayake Collage, Colombo
11. Dharmapala Collage, Pannipitiya
12. De Mazanode Collage, Kandana
13. St. Benadict Collage, Kotahena
14. Mahinda Collage, Galle
15. Trinity College, Kandy
16. St. Anthony’s Collage, Kandy
17. Dharmaraja Collage, Kandy
18. Maliyadewa Collage, Kurunegala
19. St. Patrick’s Collage, Jaffna
