The Sri Lanka squad left on Thursday for New Zealand in lead up to their tour that gets underway on December 21, Sunday with a warm up game against New Zealand A to be played at Queenstown. The tour will see Sri Lankans take on New Zealand in 2 Tests and 7 One Day Internationals (ODI), reported Sri Lanka Cricket official website.

The newly developed Hagley Oval will play host to the first Test match on boxing day, December 26. The two-Test series is scheduled to end on January 7 and the ODI leg of the tour will commence on January 11, again at Hagley Oval. The 7-ODI-series will benefit both teams in preparation of the 2015 ICC World Cup to be played in Australia and New Zealand.

The Sri Lankans will look to advantage from the long ODI by getting acclimatised to the foreign conditions. The New Zealand team themselves will be keen on getting a feel of playing at home after a lengthy tour of UAE, playing against Pakistan, prior to which they were battling it out in West Indies.
